Check out the view from DUMBO! If the view is this good just imagine the experience. DUMBO may offer a postcard view of the Manhattan skyline but it has the feel of a small picturesque town with plenty of kid-friendly activities.

Starting with the Brooklyn Promenade, where you  can take your little kiddies on a leisurely stroll with the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.

Head over to the Brooklyn Bridge Park, where  your children run free on one of the great lawns or hit one of the best playgrounds in New York City. The park offers you wonderful opportunities to candid shots of your little ones. Enjoy  a spin on the  beautifully restored, Jane’s Carousel which  was created in 1922 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company. It was originally installed in the Idora Park in Youngstown, Ohio, but is now located in Brooklyn’s own DUMBO neighborhood. The carousel is stunning and tickets are only $2, you can’t beat that. Your children will absolutely love it!

If you are looking for a great place for a nice treat then check out  the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. This adorable little ice cream shop is located in a landmark fireboat house on the Fulton Ferry Pier. This is such a great spot because almost every kid loves ice cream and the people at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory have taken every step to ensure that each treat is made with the highest level of natural ingredients. Everything from banana splits to milkshakes and even sundaes are all natural!

Another great spot for a treat is Dewey’s Candy; known as the “sweetest spot” in DUMBO,  Dewey’s Candy carries all the modern day favorites as well as many of our old school favorites like Big League Chew and Bit-O-Honey. This is a great place to exchange sweet memories with your children. Beautifully decorated with hanging lollipops, this store is amazing on sight and guaranteed to bring out the kid in even us grown-ups.

As moms, we all know finding great products and services for our children can be quite the challenge.  Pomme not only offers great merchandise but also provides a variety of services such as  child yoga classes, haircuts and even birthday parties.  Pomme opens early on Sunday (Check their site to confirm dates for upcoming Sundays)  for haircuts with Nancy one of their most popular hairdressers.  This is extremely convenient so take advantage! As stated by Pomme if you’re in need of something special or just some extra special attention then don’t hesitate to ask. Great customer service for us busy moms.

For great children’s books hit, The Powerhouse Arena. The owners have pre-selected all the books they carry to help parents find the best of the best books for our kids with ease. They’re are often special events held for children with lots of fun activities and meet and greets with authors.

DUMBO offers a plethora of things to do with your children. The artistry and creativity of its residents flows through its street and can be felt all around. Children love it and it’s a great place to spend time with them.
