Park Slope is argubly the most popular Brooklyn neighborhood for families. The beautiful sidewalks and greenery makes you feel as though you have traveled outside of New York to some quaint New England town. Virginia, a new contributing Mama lives in Park Slope and has given us her list of top 5 things to do when inPark Slope.
1. The YMCA Armory is the perfect place for family fun,especially on rainy days! The Y offers an array of classes such as yoga,art,dance,free play,etc. Memberships are pretty affordable. If not ,drop in classes range from $10-$14.
2.Barnes & Noble in Park Slope is a fun place to go to for story time. Although they do not offer an official story time, grabbing a few books and sitting on their little stage in the kids area is just as fun!
3.The Park Slope Farmers Market is an awesome place to go to on Sundays. There are several vendors selling food,treats,fresh fruits and vegetables,etc. Head the to JJ Byrne Park afterwards for some additional fun.
4.Harmony Playground at Prospect Park Prospect Park West between 9th-11th streets is awesome! Very spacious with a cool sandbox area. Walk a little further down to 3rd Street for the Third Street Playground that offers a cool jungle gym area. Prospect Park in general is a great place for the kids!
5. Puppetworks is open for general admission on Saturdays and Sundays. Kids will enjoy watching popular stories come to life though puppets. They are currently performing “The Reluctant Dragon”. Tickets are pretty affordable $7-8. Asides from their performances you can also book the location for party space!
