Best Arts and Crafts Classes for Kids in Brooklyn

Arts and Crafts is one my daughter’s favorite things to do and why not, it’s a chance to create art, make a mess and just have a good time. Brooklyn has numerous arts and crafts classes from being introduced to museums, learning to sew and construct things, to making pots to plain old painting. Brooklyn Mamas has culled together a wide range of art and crafts classes from drop in to session classes. Enjoy creating!

Meet the Museum -The Brooklyn Museum

This program caters to the youngest visitors and their caregivers. If you have a toddler who is 2 or 3 years old then this program is for you. It’s a fun, and creative way to interact with your little one, while experimenting with arts and culture through song, art making, and gallery activities.

Arty Facts at the Brooklyn Museum

Arty Facts caters to ages four through seven. Not to be outdone by their younger pals at the Meet the Museum program, parents are also encouraged to attend and interact with their wee ones.  Each class is 90 minutes long, and each child will leave with pride with their own little handmade masterpiece in tow.

Drop In Classes at Barking Cat Studios

The studio offers various classes for all ages of which you can drop in to check them out. Classes include: Little Hands Toddler Class (ages 18-42 months); Creative Cat Class (ages 3 1/2 – 6); Art Explorers (ages 7-12) and Artistacats (ages 13-17.)

Fiber Arts and Craft at Lemon Sky
Fiber Arts and Craft class isn’t your average arts and crafts class. If your love bug is six years old  and over, they will learn the basics of how to sew, knit, and embroider. Lemon Sky also offers single and a flexible class option.

Mommy and Me Arts and Crafts Class

Creative Kids‘ “Mommy and Me” class makes you want to join just by the description; kids ages 18 months – 5 years will “squoosh, wiggle and giggle” while they learn and create great art works. Creative Kids also offers drop in and single class sign ups.

Brooklyn Design Lab

Brooklyn Design Lab has classes that cater to pretty much all children, ranging from 18 months and ending at 6h Grade. From the Sensory Lab (18m-24) that explores all their emerging senses to Bubble Bubble Wrap (2-4 year olds) that centers around circles making collages, prints and using bubble wrap to a range of cool craft classes for the k-5th grade set. Brooklyn Design Lab has classes by semesters only.

Kids Sew

Gone are the days of Home Economics classes but Kids Sew classes are designed for children between the ages of 8-10 to teach them how to sew. There are two sessions a Beginner’s I and a Beginner’s II, consisting of 6 classes each and small so the kids can receive individualized instructions.

Construction Kids

The Painted Pot

Painting and creating pottery has to be one of the most creative projects kids love to do.The Painted Pot staff will help your child  create their  first piece of pottery or a gift.  All supplies, instruction and inspiration are provided in the price of painting.  No reservations are necessary, please walk in anytime to paint.
