10 Holiday Markets in Brooklyn

Market shopping can be the best way to find unusual gifts not to mention buy locally. This year with the addition of an indoor Smorgasburg and the Dekalb Market to the scene it is going to be a great season for local holiday shopping.





1. Brooklyn Craft Central’s 4th Annual Holiday Market

The Brooklyn Craft Central falls on the last shopping weekend before Christmas – December 17 and 18 – and taking place for the second year in a row at Littlefield Art Space on the Park Slope/Gowanus line. Helping shoppers who procrastinate find handmade values – and making it easy to keep out of the big box stores when the clock is ticking down. Each day will feature different vendors so it is sure to make your gift giving a breeze.

2. Brooklyn Holiday Bazaar in Williamsburg

Artists and Fleas in Williamsburg will be hosting holiday themed vendors for the entire month of December but if you find yourself in need of last minute gif coolness then head on over because they will be open on Christmas Eve.

When: Friday, 12/23: 12-7pm and  Saturday, 12/24: 10-5pm

3. Dekalb Market

The new Dekalb Market is a market built within a series of storage containers. It is not only open 7 days a week but they are also dedicating a container specifically for Santa!

4. Brooklyn Flea

Although their designated holiday market is not happening this year, the Brooklyn Flea will have two great indoor markets for the season with holiday hours. The Brooklyn Brewery will also launch SmorgasBrewery on Sunday, December 4: a mini-Smorgasburg featuring a rotating cast of five Flea/Smorg food vendors serving inside the Brewery’s Tasting Room on North 11th St. in Williamsburg. The weekly feast will coincide with the Brewery’s regular Sunday hours (noon–6pm), which include free brewery tours on the hour.

5. Buy in Brooklyn Snowflake Celebration

Buy locally this season with Buy in Brooklyn’s holiday shopping bonanza in Park Slope. Participating local businesses are offering
everything from free food to shopping discounts.

6. Brooklyn Lyceum Market

Raffles, fun for kids, food, and gifts for sale. How could you go wrong? located “where the Slope meets the Swamp” it is perfect for he Gowanus crowd.

7. South Slope Holiday Craft Fair

Proceeds from this Holiday Craft Fair benefit P.S. 10, a public elementary school located in the heart of South Slope.  The fair will  feature scrumptious snacks from local eateries, a raffle, and fun activities for kids like facepainting, a button making class, free music performances and more.

8. The Brooklyn Night Bazaar

Leave the kids at home and head over to a warehouse in Williamsburg for this three night shopping extravaganza. It will include independent vendors ranging from local food to crafts. There will be live music, food vendors, and a beer & wine garden. The vast open warehouse will be transformed into a night market with lights and projections lighting the spaces to create a cozy and warm environment for visitors.

9. NY  Creates Holiday Craft Festival

The NY Creates Holiday Craft Festival is a free and hosted by the Brooklyn Historical Society.  The festival features ceramics, jewelry, apparel, plush toys, organic cosmetics, glass works, photo  art and home goods. Many of these items were created by  Brooklyn artists. BHS’s museum is open with free admission during craft festival  hours. For more information visit www.nycreates.com.

10. 3rd Ward Handmade Holiday Craft Fair

“Friends don’t give friends bad gifts!” is the motto of this holiday market. It promises to be an extravaganza of beautiful, clever, never-before-seen gift items. A tall order especially in Brooklyn. You can also enjoy live music, DJs, cheap seasonal cocktails, and some quirky surprises while you are there.
