Screamin’ Green Halloween 2012

Halloween comes to the Hudson this year when the annual Screamin’ Green Halloween moves outdoors, treating families to a FREE afternoon of eco-friendly activities at the World Financial Center Plaza.

This annual celebration will transform the Plaza into Halloween Village, complete with games, performances, a costume parade, and giant, 30-foot high characters including  a scarecrow and a witch. Against the backdrop of the Hudson River, a costume swap will enable families to exchange last year’s costumes for gently used and ready-to-wear ones for the next day’s trick-or-treating.

Kids can listen to spooky poems in the Poets House tent, join wandering puppets and marching bands, and create communal, earth-friendly art projects. The day culminates in a Ghosts and Goblins Parade throughout Battery Park City, starting at 3pm.

Screamin’ Green Halloween will also feature a variety of fun games where players will be rewarded with fair trade and organic treats, as well as temporary tattoos of pumpkins and ghosts – printed on recycled paper, of course. Games and activities include:

  • Bobbing for Apples
  • Pin the Face on the Pumpkin
  • Gourd Roll
  • Toss a Spider in the Brew
  • Ghost Farm
  • Musical Spider Web
  • Screamin’ Green Screen Photo Booth
  • And tons more!
