My daughter started school this year and I wanted to get her teacher something nice to show our appreciation of her. So I rounded up a few of my friends who happen to be teachers and got the scoop on which gifts were especially memorable for them.
Here are a few ideas that include Brooklyn based stores that will bring a smile to your child’s teacher’s face:
Beautiful hand silkscreened items for women and little girls from SHirin Prints, a Brooklyn-based Etsy store. If your teacher has children, check out Brooklyn Based Etsy stores that sell kids products.

One of my friends recalls getting a mug with the class picture on it. Wouldn’t it be great for the teacher to remember the class as he sips his coffee in the morning? And who could say no to chocolates?! Mugs come in different sizes and you can upload up to three pictures. One of the themes is a big red apple – perfect for teachers!
This impressive tower of goodies will warm anyone’s heart. Affordable, yet overflowing with delicious snacks, this gift will be a hit with your child’s teacher and her family.
Teachers use lots of notepads and post-its so they would definitely find these adorable personalized notepads handy. This website has various sizes and different images that are suitable for teachers. (If you know that your child’s teacher is engaged to be married, you might want to hold off purchasing this, in case she changes her name soon).
This beautiful candy jar keeps candy fresh because it is an air-tight container. It can be personalized with the teacher’s name and you can fill it with any type of candy.
If your child’s teacher is one of those hands-on, proactive teachers who takes his job very seriously, he will no doubt appreciate a subscription to Instructor Magazine, where he can learn about classroom-tested programs, teaching aids and also get lots of tips and advice.
