The best time to pick apples is September so we were a little late in the season to be up at the farm but Wilkens Farms still had plenty of apples. Although it’s only a few minutes long, Wilkens Farm offers visitors a fun hay ride out to the orchard. Trust me, the kids love it and when you are returning back from the orchard with your haul, it’s nice rest.
Worried about jumping up to get the apples off the tops of the trees. They offer poles so you can reach those pesky apples off the high branches. Definitely recommend getting one and if you have an older child, it’s a great way to get them involved.
Check the farm’s schedule for apples in season and October, Wilkens has a fun pumpkin patch to pick your pumpkins, just in time for Halloween.
After you are finished, picking apples and pumpkins, Wilkins has an amazing store and market where you can pick baked goods and apple cider.

Wilkens Farm is about 1 hour and 15 minutes by car. Don’t have a car, you can take Metro-North to Croton-Harman station and then a taxi ride to the farm.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Wilken Farms.
