Dumbo Arts Festival - Enjoy visual art, music, literary and family programming all weekend from Friday, September 23rd through Sunday, September 25th as numerous at Pier 1, Main Street and Tobacco Warehouse. Admission is free.
Family Programming includes:
BUBBY’S 8TH ANNUAL PIE SOCIAL – Bring a pie to share as there will be delicious pies from local bakers.
DRAWBOTS - Kids will be able to learn about Drawbots, a drawing system and robot that anyone can build and use without having to learn electronics. The project has been shown and workshopped over 50 times in 14 countries on 5 continents since 2001. Location: Tobacco Warehouse.
KIDS’ BOOK LAUNCH PARTY AND EXHIBITION FOR ‘YOU WILL BE MY FRIEND!’ – Peter Brown (‘Children Make Terrible Pets’) celebrates the launch of his newest title, ‘You Will Be My Friend!’, with a reading and exhibition of his work. Ages 4-8.
GREAT SMALL WORKS WORKSHOP - Have fun by making simple puppets, cut-outs and flags. Afterwards, join the Great Small Works and the Greatest Smallest Band in a procession through the streets of Dumbo. Location: St. Ann’s Warehouse.
POP UP! A BOOK-MAKING WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES – Kids will join Marquis Studio teaching artist Polina Porras, a painter, puppeteer and all around visual artist will lead this workshop for parent-child or family teams. Kids and parents will learn the basics of making pop-up books from ubiquitous, recycled and found materials, mastering several methods of folding, cutting and otherwise manipulating paper and binding to create storybooks that really leap off the page! Location: Tobacco Warehouse.
COMIC BOOK ARTIST WORKSHOP – Christine Norrie shows children of all ages how to craft a tale with comic book illustration. Location: Tobacco Warehouse.
The official Festival hours are Friday 6pm to 9pm, Saturday 12pm to 8pm, Sunday 12pm to 6pm and 6pm to midnight all three nights for all outdoor projections.
