Fun Hanukkah Celebrations in Brooklyn

Brooklyn offers some unique Hanukkah events this year so finish flipping your latkes and pick one of these awesome events below to attend.

 

 

Borough Hall Menorah Lighting
Join Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz for the annual Menorah lighting ceremony.  Refreshments will be served inside Borough Hall.

Where: Brooklyn Borough Plaza, Columbus Park, 209 Joralemon Street, Downtown Brooklyn
When: December 20, 2011 at 5pm

How much: FREE

 

Public Menorah Lighting
Brooklyn’s largest menorah will be lit with Hanukkah candles each evening. Free latkes & live music will be available, as well as some children’s gifts. Many community leaders, philanthropists and special guests will assist in lighting the menorah.

When: December 20-27, daily, at sundown (click on link below for specific hours)

Meet the Holiday: Let’s Celebrate Hanukkah
Kids age 5 and under can learn all about the cultures and traditions of Hanukkah. They will discover how this holiday is celebrated around the world and make a Hanukkah-related craft.

When: December 17 & 18, 2011 at 2:30pm

Community-Wide Hanukkah Celebration

Sing-a-long in a joyous Israeli-style Hanukkah concert and enjoy a Hanukkah lunch of latkes, sufganiot and more. There will also be a dreidel-spinning competition as well as a home-made applesauce competition.

When: December 18, 2011  Noon-2pm

How Much: Advance tickets: $12 per adult; $7 per child. At the door: $15 per adult; $10 per child. (kids under 2 are free). Each ticket holder must also bring a can of non-perishable food (donated to City Harvest) in order to attend event.

Family Hanukkah Party
Enjoy a Hanukkah feast in a fun-filled evening with food, entertainment, socializing and games.
