This week The Bronx Zoo is celebrating Salute to Wildlife Ice Carving Week .Watch as professional ice carvers transform blocks of ice into glistening wildlife sculptures. In addition, there are special winter-themed activities that include horse-drawn carriage rides, Polar Express in 4D and much more, all happening December 26 through December 30.
Salute to Wildlife Ice Carving Activities
Ice Sculpting Demonstration
Visitors will have the unique opportunity to watch as artists turn blocks ofice into glistening statues of a variety of animals.
When: December 26-28, 30 from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Salute to Wildlife Ice Carving Competition
Kids will be able check out all the ice carvers as they test their skills in a competition of creativity as they sculpt various animals out of blocks of ice.
When: December 29 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Ice Sculpture Play Area Giant Ice Throne and Display
This giant chair makes for the perfect photo opportunity for kids and adults alike as they sit on the giant polar bear-themed throne and play among the mountains and iceburgs surrounding them.
When: December 27-30 from 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Note: This activity is weather-dependent and may close prior to December 30

Tropical-Themed Ice Play Area with Marine Animal-Themed Ice Slide
Kids will have fun sliding down 25-foot long ice slide carved out of solid ice throughthe sculptures of waves, palm trees, sea lions and dolphins.
When: December 27 – 30 from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Island pieces and tunnels aimed at children ages 4 to 6 years
Younger kids will be able to enjoy navigating the smalltunnels, a miniature slide, and a small maze all carved from ice.
When: December 27-30 from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Guests can also ride Hess Clydesdale-Drawn Carriage Rides around the zoo’s historic Astor Court December 26 – 31 from 11:30 am- 3:30 pm. Visit the bronxzoo.com for the complete schedule of winter=themed activities.
